what we collect
- your name and email (from Clerk when you sign up)
- your payment status and subscription dates (from Stripe. we never see your card number)
- your cooking profile if you fill it in, plus what you save, rate and cook on the site
- what you post: recipe notes and plate photos
- basic analytics: which pages you view, on what device, and roughly from where (PostHog and Google Analytics see page addresses, never your name or email)
what we don't do
- we don't sell your data
- we don't send marketing email you didn't ask for
- we don't show anything you post without you sharing it. a note or plate you share shows on that recipe's public page with your first name. private notes stay with you.
- we don't keep your card. Stripe does.
who sees your data
only us (jason and a small team) and the vendors we use to run the site: Clerk for sign-in, Stripe for billing, Resend and Kit for email, Neon for the database, Vercel for hosting, Daily.co for live class video, PostHog and Google Analytics for analytics, Sentry for error tracking. each has their own privacy policy. we picked ones we'd be okay handing our own data to.
what you can do
- export your data: email jason@jointhecookingclub.com and we'll send it
- delete your account: same email. we remove everything within 30 days, except what we're legally required to keep for billing and tax
- stop the emails: turn off the daily recipe in your account, or use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email
children
members must be 13+. if you're under 18, get a parent or guardian's ok before signing up.
